MUSKEGON – Lexie Bowers has grown accustomed to trips to the Breslin Center during her varsity career at Kent City.
The senior standout made sure her squad stayed on her track toward that goal Tuesday night with an impressive performance in a 66-32 rout of Saugatuck in the Division 3 regional semifinals from Shelby High School.
The Northwood University commit scored 32 points, including six 3-pointers, grabbed 11 rebounds and added seven steals and five assists to pace the Eagles, while Maddie Geers added a double-double of her own with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Freshman Laynee Hoffman added five points and three steals, while fellow freshman Alyssa Miller chipped in with five points.
Kent City (21-4) advances to face Hart (22-3) in Thursday’s regional final at 7 p.m. from Shelby High School. The Eagles survived with a 58-52 win over the Pirates when the two teams squared off back on Dec. 20, 2022.

Hart 49, Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian 29
The Pirates trailed early on in their matchup against the Mustangs but used an 11-3 run in the second quarter to take a 7-point lead at halftime. Hart eventually pulled away in the fourth quarter, as they closed out the game on a 16-6 run to secure their spot in Thursday’s regional finals against Kent City.
Abby Hicks led the Pirates with 18 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and three assists, while Addi Hovey added 13 points, 10 rebounds and four steals, Aspen Boutell had 11 points and five rebounds and Mariana VanAgtmael had five points and four rebounds.
Hart (22-3) advances to face Kent City (21-4) in Thursday’s regional finals at 7 p.m. from Shelby High School.
Byron Center 62, Muskegon 43
The Bulldogs used an aggressive zone defense and an efficient press-breaking offense to pull away from the Big Reds in the second half after holding a 9-point lead at halftime to advance to Thursday’s district championship game.
Lily Zeinstra finished with 26 points to lead Byron Center, while McKenna Ferguson added 21 points.
Mariah Sain led Muskegon (17-8) with 20 points, while Ty’Veonna Davis added 14 points.
Byron Center (22-3) advances to face Rockford (24-1) in Thursday’s regional finals at 7 p.m. from Mona Shores High School.
Freeland 51, Whitehall 33
The Falcons built a 34-15 advantage in the first half and knocked down 10 3-point attempts throughout the game as they pulled away from the upset-minded Vikings in the Division 2 regional semifinals on Tuesday.
Autumn Ferris scored 11 points to lead Whitehall (13-11), while Lucy Zamojcin and Lexi Daggett each added six points.
Avery Mantei led Freeland with 19 points, while Karie Keefer added 18 points.
*Freeland (20-5) advances to face Frankenmuth (22-2) in Thursday’s regional finals at 7 p.m. from Frankenmuth High School.
Kalamazoo Hackett 43, Fruitport Calvary Christian 34
The Eagles opened the game on a 9-5 run but the Fighting Irish turned the tide in the second quarter to bring the game to a 14-14 tie at the halftime break.
Kalamazoo Hackett leaned on junior standout Alyse Baughman down the stretch, as she finished with 24 points and powered her squad to a hard-fought victory in the Division 4 regional semifinals.
McKena Wilson led Fruitport Calvary (11-13) with 20 points, while Nora Pollock added six rebounds and four steals.
Kalamazoo Hackett (17-8) advances to face Colon (21-4) in Thursday’s regional finals at 7 p.m. from New Buffalo High School.
