According to the AS news outlet, Spanish La Liga club, Barcelona, who did not win any trophies in the 2023/2024 season, managed to save approximately €40 million in player bonuses.

The Catalans would have received these bonuses for winning the league title, Copa del Rey, and the Champions League. Bonuses for winning the country’s Super Cup are not specified in contracts and are negotiated separately. In the 2022/2023 season, Barcelona paid around €20 million in bonuses.

Moreover, the Blaugrana could potentially miss out on another €15 million if they finish the season in third place in the La Liga table. This sum includes payments for broadcasting rights (€7 million) and participation in the Spanish Super Cup (€8 million).

After 34 rounds of the Spanish championship, Xavier Hernandez’s (Xavi’s) team collected 73 points and are in the third position. The country’s champions were Madrid’s Real (90 points in 35 matches). Barcelona were eliminated in the quarterfinals of Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

It was reported on April 19 by Mundo Deportivo that Barcelona will return to their home stadium, Camp Nou, after reconstruction on December 15. On May 3, Radio Marca shared that the club’s management intends to sell midfielder Pedri, who plays for Barcelona and the Spanish national team, in the upcoming summer transfer window.
