Barely 24 hours after Friday’s alleged gang-rape of a Spanish tourist in Jharkhand‘s Dumka, an orchestra troupe member from Chhattisgarh was assaulted by three men in Jharkhand’s Palamu district late Saturday. According to the FIR filed on Sunday with Palamu’s Bishrampur police, the perpetrators were known to the survivor. Police said two of the culprits had been arrested while a hunt was on for the third.

“There was a show for which the dancer (survivor) was invited by one of the three accused, Golu Kumar.

However, the show was cancelled and she stayed in Kumar’s room,” Bishrampur SDPO Rakesh Singh said. In her complaint, the 21-year-old survivor alleged that she was given a drink that left her unconscious, after which the three assaulted her. The two arrested have been identified as Ajay Kumar and Deewana Kumar. Golu is absconding. All three have been booked under Sections 328 (causing hurt) and 376 (2) (rape) of the IPC.
