Several potential improvers on show, as well as, the well-connected newcomer King’s Coronation, but LADY OF SPAIN showed a good turn of foot off a slow pace here on her debut and she can take a step forward and defy her penalty. Approval is likely to be a different proposition today and could prove best of the rest.

Don’t rule out a big run from the quirky Louis Treize on his return to action, while Munificent is handicapped to go well and needs monitoring for market confidence. The key race looks to be the C&D handicap in which Basholo finished in front of ACES WILD and Hi Hoh Tonto last week though and Adrian Wintle’s 5yo can gain compensation for his luckless effort.

Three of the leading form contenders have bagged the three widest stalls and that won’t be ideal over this trip around here. Marmaduke Lemon might prove the best of them, but he fluffed his lines when favourite last time and there are dangers. Arcturian won well on debut and is respected despite his penalty, while Rattler is a newcomer of note, but it may be worth chancing VIENNOISE on her return to action. She’s apprentice-ridden and her yard runs two here but there was plenty of promise on her Windsor debut and this trip should be more suitable.

Lady In Havana had an excuse last time and she’d be a danger to all if back to her best. Sir Bolton ran with more promise than the bare figures suggest on his stable debut 17 days ago and he could be a different proposition dropped in class with the run behind him. While Twenty Bob, Fengari and Sub Thirteen (second choice) also have something to recommend them. MAMMY looks a likely improver upped in trip for her handicap debut though and there’s a fair case for her being well treated on her Ripon effort last summer.

Bungle Bay got away with stall 12 here 17 days ago but he’ll do well to find himself as well positioned early this time and he’s opposed, for all his form credentials are there for all to see. Kodi Noir can leave his stable debut behind him, while Gidwa and Lady Wingalong need watching in the market. Split Elevens looks set to go well at this level but BERNIE THE BEAR has been threatening for his new stable and this could be the day things fall into place.

Positives are identifiable for Prince Ali, Strictly Dreaming, and Reverberation (second choice). However, with the excellent Ben Coen booked aboard a bang-in-form LOUGH LEANE (nap), the solution appears obvious. David Simcock’s four-year-old took his form to a new level when completing the hat-trick in a Class 5 handicap at Newcastle last week.

Recent Southwell scorer Louisiana Bay (second choice) is respected. But a slight preference is for the comfortable Kempton winner PITTSBURG who can be fancied to confirm his superiority over Sylvester Kirk’s mare Eaux De Vie.
