Jet2 has issued a warning for British tourists flying to Palma de Mallorca Airport on Spain’s Majorca island.

The airline warned that maintenance work at the busy airport could leave British tourists waiting longer than usual at immigration.

A spokesperson said: “There is currently maintenance work taking place at Majorca (Palma) Airport.

“We are working with the airport to ensure that any disruption to your airport experience will be kept to a minimum.

“Due to this ongoing work you may be waiting slightly longer than normal to clear immigration in both departures and arrivals, our friendly Customer Helpers will be on hand to help.

“We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding should you experience an extended wait time, which is beyond our control.”

The airline added that Jet2 flights would be using check-in desks 31-33 and all the airline’s flights would board from Module C.

It also advised passengers to check the airport screens for information.

Over the weekend, passengers travelling to Gatwick Airport and Heathrow Airport were warned to leave longer than usual for their journeys.

Parts of the M25 were closed from 9pm on Friday for scheduled works but the major road has now reopened.

British tourists can usually find updated information about their flight on their airline’s app or website.
