In a horrific incident, a foreign national from Spain was allegedly gang-raped at Kurumahat in Jharkhand’s Dumka district. The incident took place on Friday night when a tourist couple from Spain were spending the night at a makeshift tent, according to police.

Dumka Superintendent of Police said that a Spanish woman complained that she was gang raped in Hansdiha police station area last night, reported ANI.

“Police are taking the necessary actions including her medical examination. Three persons have been detained. Further investigation underway,” the cop said.

Phulo Jhano Medical College Superintendent Anukuran Purty said, “This hasn’t been established yet that she had been raped, outer injuries are visible but for inner injuries and other things medical examinations are going on. She is out of danger. Her age determination will be done.”

He added that a committee will be formed.

An official, on condition of anonymity, said seven to eight local youths were involved in the incident, reported PTI.

As per information, the couple had reached Dumka from Bangladesh on a two-wheeler and was en route to Bihar and then Nepal.

Congress MLA Amba Prasad said that the government is going to ensure that the culprits are not spared, and strict action will be taken against the accused.

Jharkhand minister Mithilesh Kumar Thakur told reporters, “It is a condemnable incident, and the police are taking appropriate action. The culprits will not be spared.”
