Marca reported that FIFA and UEFA could suspend Spanish clubs and the national team due to government interference in the affairs of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

According to the source, the Spanish government has decided to create a special commission to monitor the work of the football federation. The participation of the Spanish national team in the 2024 European Championship and clubs in European competitions next season is therefore at risk.

It is also reported that the Spanish government understands the possible consequences from the international football federation and the European football associations.

Recall that the final stage of Euro 2024 will take place in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024. The tournament matches will be hosted at 10 stadiums in 10 cities.

Earlier, the Spanish prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for former RFEF president Luis Rubiales, and also requested a 2.5-year prison sentence for the former head of the Spanish Football Federation.
